Womens' California State Tartan Shirt
California is so dope, it has its own TARTAN. Yes, California has an official State Tartan, honoring the memory of the great Scottish-born naturalist John Muir and other Scottish immigrants to California. Our state tartan is based on the Muir Clan tartan.
This tartan may be representative of the Scottish heritage of millions of Scottish-Californians, but the law expressly provides that the State Tartan is one that all California residents may "claim as their own." Isn't that nice? So no matter what your heritage, you can proudly rock a Cali Tartan and consider yourself part of the clan.
The tartan's blue reflects the sky, the Pacific ocean, and the state's rivers and lakes, while the green stands for the state's mountains, fields, and parks. The red (redwood), golden yellow, and blue seams signify the arts, sciences, agriculture, and industry of California.
This t-shirt is 100% California-made, and is created using digital sublimation, in which the shirt design is printed in dye onto a transfer sheet, and then the design is pressed into the shirt at a high temperature, bonding the dyes to the fibers of the shirt.
Sublimation creates a nearly permanent, high resolution, full color, all-over print. Because the dyes are infused into the t-shirt fibers, the prints will not crack, fade or peel under normal conditions.
As part of this process, you will see small white creases on the shirt, especially around the armpits. It's normal, and makes every shirt unique.
